Skill Stacking

Skill stacking is a completely new thing for me, so I have mixed feelings about it. In one hand, sure it`s useful. You can combine different skills for projects and learn something new or even learn new skills from those that you already know. But in the other, who really would want photographer who is kind of good or buy a painting from artist who´s art is okay.

I´ll stop being negative Nancy, for now. It’s nearly impossible to be perfect at something, let alone everything that you want to be good at. And thing is, whit skill stacking is that you don´t have to be the best, you just got to be little open minded and combine your skills to be better. Another thing is, you don´t have to do anything you don´t want to, you can do just those things that are in your comfort zone.

Would you look at that, negative Nancy is back. There are skills that you’re either good at or bad at, and skills that you simply need, for example, social skills. If you have poor social skills then that`s your loss, but if you’re good at it then good for you. In the blog we got example of Scott´s skills, writing, great artist and he`s a funny guy apparently. These skills make great comic writer. But what if your skill doesn’t combine like that. What if you’re good at gardening, photography and something useless as talking. What are you supposed to do whit that stack. I know it is far-fetched idea that all your skills would be useless together, but it still is possible ´what if´ situation, right.

For set decoration it is useful, since we can and do everything from anything. We need to know how to work whit many materials and equipment, we must be able to sew weld, do woodwork, use wood, paint, metal, fabric. There definitely is much more, but you get the idea from these. But of curse everyone has their favorite material and technique to use, so yes you could use only one technique, but that would limit what you could create. And if I something have learned I school it’s that the options on creating is unlimited, prefer cheap and lights material though. The point is, once you know how to use many different materials you can create so much more because, of course, you can combine different methods. Also, skills that you kind of have to learn are design and calculations, still working on those.

In a nutshell. I don´t know if this make any sense, but skill stacking is useful. My stupid what if situations are still standing. I guess this shows that writing is not on my skill stack.
